Tasia Riggs is a freshman on the Reid State volleyball team, known for her strong defensive presence and determination on the court. A graduate of Harlan High School and Warren High School, Tasia earned accolades including Athlete of the Week, Defensive Player, and Honorable Mention throughout her athletic career — proving herself as a tough competitor and key team player.

Born and raised in Opelousas, Louisiana, Tasia is one of ten siblings and credits her large family — especially her brother — as a major source of motivation and support. Her parents, Timothy Riggs and Jeanine Collins, have encouraged her both academically and athletically.

Off the court, Tasia is pursuing a degree in Child Care, with hopes of working with and positively impacting the lives of young children in the future. Her favorite pastimes include listening to music (especially Billie Eilish), watching Grey’s Anatomy, and enjoying her go-to comfort meal of fried pork chops, macaroni, and salad. When it comes to dessert, she keeps it classic with a snowball.

Her favorite sports movie is Creed, and she enjoys watching games called by sports broadcaster Mike Breen. Tasia dreams of visiting Jamaica one day and has her sights set on one day gracing the cover of Vogue. If she weren’t playing volleyball, she says she’d be stepping up to the plate on the softball field.
