Bio

Preston Lam joined the Lions staff in January 2026 as Assistant Golf Coach and enters the position with a passion for developing student-athletes both on and off the golf course. A lifelong golfer and PGA Associate, Lam combines coaching experience, teaching expertise, and a strong commitment to player development.

Originally born in Honolulu, Hawaii, Lam's unique upbringing took him across the United States and abroad, living in Hawaii, Nevada, Alaska, Australia, Central Florida, Nebraska, Northwest Florida, and Greenville, Alabama. Those experiences have shaped his adaptable coaching style and his belief that home is wherever family and friends are.

Lam currently serves as an Assistant Golf Professional with the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail while working toward earning his PGA Class A Membership. Prior to joining the collegiate ranks, he spent two years as a Lead Coach with First Tee Gulf Coast (2021–2023), where he taught golf fundamentals and life skills to junior golfers. During that same period, he also volunteered as a coach with Florida Special Olympics, helping athletes develop confidence and competitive skills through the game of golf.

A graduate of the University of West Florida with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Lam holds First Tee Level 1 and Level 2 Coach certifications in addition to his PGA Associate status.

As a player, Lam earned four varsity golf letters during his high school career, competing at Bellevue East High School in Nebraska before graduating from Navarre High School in Florida.

Away from the course, Lam enjoys bass fishing, a great steak dinner, and cheesecake. His favorite golf-inspired film is Seven Days in Utopia, and he hopes to one day visit Germany. A fan of country music, Riley Green tops his playlist, and he appreciates the broadcasting style of Jim Nantz. If given the opportunity, the magazine cover he'd most like to appear on would be Golf Digest.

Lam is dedicated to helping student-athletes reach their full potential by fostering a culture of discipline, integrity, continuous improvement, and a lifelong love for the game of golf.
